Festive Dinnerware for Year-Round Entertaining
Posted by Julie on Dec 13th 2018
We love the idea of holiday-themed cookware and dinnerware, but who has the space for a whole separate set of dishes that’s only appropriate for a month out of each year? Being both budget-conscious and space-conscious, we decided to browse our own offerings and make some recommendations for festive cookware, serveware, and dinnerware.
If you’re ready to trade in the Santa plates and snowman mugs for some more sophisticated options — ones that will look just as good on the table in June as they do in December — we’ve got some great ideas to share.
Festive Dinnerware
We were really excited to add Le Creuset dinnerware to our virtual shelves recently. The Cerise and Marseille collections with their traditional deep red and blue colors are ideal for Christmas or Hanukkah celebrations.
You can purchase a full dinnerware set in Cerise or Marseille, or you can purchase some accent pieces to mix and match. We love the idea of picking up a set of soup bowls or salad plates, and using those with your everyday white dinnerware for a pop of festive color. You can also use those same soup bowls or salad plates for serving appetizers, dips, and sauces.
Another festive option could be the Kate Spade Deco Dot collection, which features black dots on a white background. We have the full dinnerware set, or you can mix and match accent plates and bowls with the Le Creuset Cerise or Marseille collections. Either route is a fun way to jazz up your holiday table.
Festive Serveware
If you’re not prepared to spring for full sets of dinnerware, it can be a great compromise to add some festive pieces of serveware to your kitchen cupboards. While you may not use them on an everyday basis, you’ll be glad to have them when you’re hosting guests, no matter what time of year it is.
Kate Spade’s Deco Dot collection offers a wide range of serveware items, such as a pitcher and glasses, a cake plate and carrier, and even a gravy boat. But don’t be overwhelmed; you can always start with the basics. A serving platter and a large bowl will be evergreen, and nobody ever has too many of them.
You can also pick up a few fun accents that will look especially festive at the holidays, but will also be at home in your kitchen all year long. We love the Le Creuset trivet and petite salt and pepper mill set. Both of them are available in Cerise or Marseille.
Festive Cookware
We love cookware that is beautiful enough to bring straight to the table. Both Emile Henry and Staub offer a variety of pieces in holiday-appropriate colors that you’ll cook with year-round.
Check out the Staub 4-quart cocotte, available in cherry, basil, grenadine, and dark blue — all perfect for the season. The size is especially versatile, making this cast iron cocotte ideal for soups, stews, braising meat and baking bread. If you need to go larger or smaller, browse our entire inventory of Staub.
The Emile Henry Dutch oven in burgundy is another festive choice that comes in a variety of sizes. This Dutch oven can even be used on the grill next summer. While you probably wouldn’t take your Emile Henry cookware camping, it certainly can handle the heat.
Finally, pie is a seasonal favorite, and a few festive pie dishes will come in handy. The Emile Henry pie dish features fluted edges and a white interior. Choose from colors including rouge, spring, or twilight.
